Daca ar fi sa aleg intre astea doua, as alege Volvo pentru motorul diesel performant, finisaje net superioare fata de Jeep, aspect, in general cam pentru tot... Dar dupa parearea mea, mult mai tare ar fi un Subaru Forester, un Range Rover sau un Discovery.Jeep cred ca are si consumul mult mai ridicat..... E posibil ca acum sa fie standard, pe vechea generatie ('99 - '04) stiu ca era optional. E senzational sistemul, nu exista noroi/pietris/nisip/zapada suficient de mare ca sa te opreasca din drum, combinat cu o tinuta de drum excelenta pe sosea. Fara sa fi mers vreodata cu XC90, testele pe care le-am citit indicau un bun comportament rutier pe sosea dar foarte mari probleme imediat ce ieseai de pe asfalt. E adevarat, foarte probabil 99% din timp il vei petrece in oras/DN/autostrada...Dar nu e bine sa stii ca daca ai vrea, ai putea? Si apoi, pofta vine mancand....Si-ar mai fi un mic argument....185 de cai vs. 218 in favoarea lui G Cherokee....conteaza orice cal in plus atunci cand ai de plimbat peste 2 tone de fier....Parerea mea..... Posted 2 May 2007 · Report post Sunt doua masini destul de diferite (volvo este un rutier iar jeep este si un 4x4 destul de capabil)ca pret volvo este mai ieftin cu 1000euro la versiunea de baza,ca dimensiuni sunt comparabile dar jeep are garda la sol mai mare, volvo are 5 cilindri jeep are v6(de origine mercedes)la acceleratie jeep e mai rapid cu 2 secunde are viteza maxima mai mare si consuma cu 1 l mai mult! depinde ce apreciezi tu mai mult la o masina de genul astacel mai bine faci un drive test cu fiecare si vezi care e mai potrivit pentru tine!la aceasi bani poti sa iei: un bmw x3 cu motor de 3.0 d (218cp) dodge nitro 2.8 d (177cp) land rover discovery 2.8d (190cp) vw touareg 2.5 d (174cp)n-am adaugat 'japonezele' pentru ca personal nu le agreez! The Arctic Monkeys, those famously chilly simians from Leeds, are in that position right now. Their first album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, was brilliant. It was hard and fresh and the lyrics were eloquent and unpretentious. Now, mere months later, the second album is here and you can just hear the critics wanting to trot out some threadbare cliché about second-album syndrome. For the record, Favourite Worst Nightmare is just as good. It’s a noisy consolidation, more than an evolution, but how that can be a bad thing escapes me.Still, the worst that can happen to the Monkeys is that they get bad reviews. At least they’ll still be rich and get lots of sex from complete strangers and, crucially, they’ll still be the only Arctic Monkeys.The same cannot be said for Jacuzzi. Jacuzzi is a company based in California named after the brothers Jacuzzi that makes hot tubs that blow bubbles and squirt water jets. Of course, their product was so brilliant that no matter if your jacuzzi is made by Jacuzzi or Armitage Shanks, it’s still a jacuzzi.What’s the name for that? The best I can come up with is a “brand eponym", which sends me to sleep as I type it, but there you go.There are loads of them. In SA, if your domestic worker asks you to pick up some Rama, she won’t be disappointed if you come back from the shop with Flora, because Rama actually means any margarine. If you come back with the Rama in a Checkers, you’re actually carrying it in a plastic bag, not a cheap supermarket. Whenever you go rollerblading, use your hula hoop or your frisbee or describe your yawn as Technicolor, you’re making some poor brand manager somewhere wince, because they are all trade names. Once-cool Google set their lawyers on the case in an attempt to stop the evolution of the English language and have, obviously, failed. If you don’t believe me, just google it.One brand you don’t find on the list is Volvo, which is no criticism, because you don’t find BMW or Mercedes-Benz there either. But here’s the thing. I think it should be, because I’ve just spent a few days tooling around in the Volvo XC90. Yup, it sounds like a wireless modem but actually it’s a rather good car.Now, I know it’s not new, but it occurred to me the other day that I’d never driven what Volvo has referred to as the most important car it’s ever built. So now, with a new engine up front, I have. And I gave it a proper test, too.I took my wife, her sister, her sister’s husband, her five-month-old nephew and the nephew’s nanny to Pietermaritzburg. That’s six people, one of whom is very small but comes attached to fold-up cots and prams and that extraordinary array of baby paraphernalia and snot-absorbing stuff that babies need.The first thing, then, was to retrieve a sixth seat out of the floor of the boot. With the lifting of one lever, it was done. That seat has a three-point seatbelt, its own air-conditioning vent, cup holders and just about enough legroom for an adult and plenty for a child. There is a seventh seat, also folded into the boot floor, but we didn’t need it.And from then on the XC90 did nothing but impress. Six up, along with baby gubbins, and we were not at all uncomfortable. On the long freeway I set the cruise control at 130km/h, the climate control at 22°C and the stereo to loud and sat back in smug comfort, the 3,2 V6 changing gear as required on the hills.This is a big car, of course, and that’s evident in town, where it feels like you’re at the helm of the HMS Victory. But the clever thing is that the Volvo doesn’t feel like a great big Range Rover of a 4x4 to other road users. This, I suspect, is the greatest trick of all, because the Volvo is a four-wheel-drive, but it’d be stretching it to call it a 4x4 in the traditional sense. I seriously advise you avoid the Kalahari in this thing. There is no low-range gearbox or diff locks or any of that proper 4x4 apparatus.No, the XC90 is strangely nondescript and anonymous. Its smooth, inoffensive lines are without aggression, unlike all other big, butch offroaders. It’d be hard to hate anyone in an XC90, despite the fact that it’s just a much better BMW X5.The 3,2 model, which I drove, is the bottom of the range and while there’s pulling power at relatively low revs, the reality is that it battles a bit, screaming its way to 100km/h in about 10 seconds. There’s nothing wrong with the engine, it’s just that the XC90 weighs a staggering 2,6 tons. No wonder it feels so good over road humps and other traffic-calming measures. It doesn’t go over them — it flattens them like the heavy roller at the Wanderers.So fuel economy isn’t great. I returned about 12l/100km on the freeway and about 17l/100km in town. But then, this is a massive car, so perhaps that’s not too bad.The diesel model is significantly slower but returns far better mileage. You didn’t buy this car to race off from the lights, so that’d be the one I’d go for, especially considering that it’s the same price as the V6 model. But if you like to embarrass people in sports cars, there’s the V8 model that roars to 100km/h in just 7,4 seconds. There’s nothing in the world more likely to irritate a greenie than the thought of some rich mummy dropping off her privileged kids at their expensive school in their monster-truck Volvo. My advice is to ignore them. Greenies tend to be rich, white, urban, middle-class folk who — and here’s the rub — don’t have kids. They talk a good fight about taking children to school in a bucket of lentil soup or something equally right-on, or making the snotty little shits walk, but those with kids know different.There is no length you won’t go to in order to keep them safe and happy. The engineers at Volvo knew that when they designed this brilliant car. Not only is it just clever, it’s also very, very safe. It obviously scored the maximum five stars with the Euro NCAP boffins, but they were also moved to single it out for special praise. I’d go so far as to say that if you have children and they have friends who are also children and if you can afford the R465000, it’s actually irresponsible not to own an XC90. Volvo might not like it much, but I think the cumbersome name “XC90" should become a brand eponym. It isn’t getting hell from the environmentalists like a Hummer would, and it isn’t anemic and underpowered like a Hyundai or other small SUV. Finally, it’s not “fancy†like a BMW X5 or an Mercedes-Benz R Class. It’s just right in that sweet zone, where all of its attention seems to be positive, and nobody really has anything but praise for it. Even in road tests it just keeps getting the thumbs up from those that review it.And that’s pretty much exactly what driving it is like. People aren’t staring at you with a glare as you roll past in a mighty dominator, they smile and wave, and let you into traffic. You, in return, smile back as you turn up the radio from the steering wheel mounted controls. You use the extremely well designed dash controls to dial in that perfect temperature, and swing past slower motorists in the fast lane with a swiftness that would keep your grandmother from guessing you were driving faster than you should. The pedal is ready to take you into ‘ticket-land’, but it’ll do it so gently that you have to watch that creeping speedometer or you’ll be explaining to the officer how it’s really not your fault that Volvo makes such a smooth ride.Everything is so dialed in it makes you sad you have to drive other cars. The rear cargo space is even elegant. It has a 3rd row of seating, which is the only place I wouldn’t want to end up, however, you’re never *really* driving with 7 tall passengers at a time, and you can always talk someone into getting back there instead of you. But those in the back are still treated to elegant cup holders, comfortable arm rests, movable head rests to set yourself into a nice warm nap. Also, one of my favorite features is the clamshell rear hatch. The little tailgate that lowers gives you a seat while you’re changing into your hiking shoes (and the top providing shade while you do it), or stays up allowing you to secure things into place in the back against the tailgate while still having the hatch open. Very well designed and very intelligent design.While driving, it’s very quiet. Which just keeps on building up that trust that they’ve already established. Everything is in such a logical place, keeping you from having to reach or strain for anything. Even the mp3 “Aux†input is nicely placed in the center console, complete with a power plug, allowing you to store your iPod next to you and without having any wires dangling from the dash. It prevents you from messing up the aesthetic by thinking one step ahead of you. And for $45,000, very well loaded, this car is a steal compared to so many other similarly priced vehicles out there. XC 90 e o masina mare si frumoasa. Daca ar fii sa ne luam dupa calitatile sticte ale unui suv, cred ca e mai indicat JEEP G C.Parerea mea:) Si XC70 e mai ok decat XC90. Unde intra 70 nu intra 90-ul. Posted 14 Jun 2008 · Report post Am mers si cu una, si cu cealalta. In Grand Cherokee m-am simtit ca intr-o masina facuta din materiale la mana a 2-a. Stiu, Quadra - Drive kicks ass, ar pt. mine conteaza mai mult cum ma simt eu in masina mea. Si foarte important, acolo unde stau, in interior.Si nu te gandi ca daca lumea (ca si mine) lauda Quadra-Drive-ul, 4x4 Volvo e de aruncat. Am urcat cu un XC 90 (ca pasager) la Cota 1400 pe drum neumblat, dupa o ninsoare dementiala, pe care s-a inzapezit si masina de dezapazire Si mai e ceva: Pentru o zi, 2 de zapezi sau conditii urate rau, nu are rost sa merg in bocanci tot anul. Am gasit un XC90 din 2010, fara navigatie, dar cu piele, xenon, 50000km conform carnetului service, impecabila ..dar si unul din 2007 superb-16000€/35000km, momentum echiparea... XC90 se recomanda dupa 2012,dar nu vei gasi la 20.000E ... Deci in banii astia recomand XC60 sau 70 Incearca sivorbeste cu BogdanG...Stiu ca el aduce masini din afara...
